SAHIWAL: Corruption is institutionally rooted in public sector departments and the Anti-Corruption Establishment alone cannot rooted it out.

“There is need for an integral and interdepartmental approach in eliminating the menace and corrupt mafia,” says ACE DG retired Brig Muzaffar Ali Ranjha while talking to media here on Tuesday.

Ranjha was here to open work on ACE’s regional headquarter building near the Comprehensive School.

The DG said no corrupt official would be spared while the honest would be protected. He said out of 17,000 corruption cases the ACE had disposed of 14,000 on merit and arrested 1,420 officials.

He said those who filed bogus complaints against honest officials would not be spared, adding 22 individuals had been arrested under Section 182 for launching bogus complaints.

He specially mentioned registration of an FIR against a department director and additional director on charges of corruption.

He said the department wanted to clear complaints backlog by December 2018.
