RAWALPINDI: Customs authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle 60,000 euros and arrested an air passenger at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Monday, the authorities said.

Customs spokesman said the seizure was made when the customs clearance of passengers for Emirates Airline flight EK-613 for Dubai was in progress at the airport.

He said a customs official spotted a passenger acting suspiciously and asked him for search of his baggage.

Initially, a small quantity of foreign currency was recovered from the passenger hand bag which was legally allowed, but after the baggage search, the customs authorities recovered 60,000 euros from him which was being illegally smuggled out of country and arrested the accused.
