Is Aamir Khan's next a copy of Pirates of the Caribbean?

Thugs of Hindostan is an action adventure film — is Aamir's character inspired by Captain Jack Sparrow?
Updated 22 May, 2017

Aamir Khan's next film is an action adventure titled Thugs of Hindostan and people are wondering whether it is inspired by the popular Pirates of the Carribean series.

In a recent press conference, Aamir said, "The film is not inspired from any other film. It is an action adventure film but the story is not similar."

"There are some hundreds of action adventure films. There is 'Pirates of Caribbean', there is 'Indiana Jones' and many others. All these are action adventure films. So the genre of our film is action adventure but the story is different. Even my character in the film is not similar to any other character."

Thugs of Hindostan is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya (of Dhoom 3 fame) and stars Aamir, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh (from Dangal) in lead roles. Aamir feels that Fatima who had portrayed the character of his daughter in 'Dangal' is the right choice for this film as well.

"We are starting the shoot for 'Thugs of Hindostan' in June. Fatima is the heroine of the film. I am very happy as she is a very good artist, she suits the role."

@KHan-HaqIqi We should first stop copying Bollywood movies in Lollywood. Stand on our own feet make our own movies, adverts and compete with them not copy them.

An actor of his caliber should check for authenticity because Ganjani was a shameless ripoff of Memento.

@asif khan : If Indians are good at copying, then Lollywood makes pathetic copies of Bollywood, even down to copying filmfare award functions. You see now what it has got to do with lollywood?

Not a great follower of Indian movies but can tell you that Amir's "qiamat say qiamat tak" was a plagiarism of "Romeo and Juliet", and Gajini of "Memento". Critics say his work is heavily "inspired " by already produced work. No offence meant to any one !!

In TVF's 'barely speaking with arnub' they rightly said that amir khan elevates the indian cine goers with 2 brilliant movies but then brings it down with nolan copy. Ghajni, Dhoom 3 and now this nonsense

@Dr. Ali No one is claiming that Lollywood makes the original movies. Even if Lollywood copies films, is it stated as a reason for Bollywood copying films?

Aamir Khan is known for being in films which are lifted from hollywood, specially Christopher Nolan's. His Ghazni was lifted from 'Mamento' while Dhoom 3 was ripped from ' Prestige'.
