PESHAWAR: The health workers on Thursday observed complete strike in different government hospitals of the provincial metropolis against registration of an FIR and transfer of health employees.

The employees of various teaching hospitals, including Lady Reading Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex, took out processions from their health facilities and held a protest rally at Jinnah Park under the banner of All Employees Coordination Council.

The rally was addressed by the coordination council president Aslam Khan, general secretary Gohar Taj, Roidar shah, Paramedical Association general secretary Luqman Gul, Local Government Employees Union president Malik Naveed, All Pakistan Clerks Association provincial president Sareer Khan, Adnan Azmat and Sanitation Workers Union representatives.

They urged the government to withdraw the FIR registered against some of the employees who had protested for acceptance of their demands. They also demanded withdrawal of the recent transfer orders of health workers otherwise they would announce strike for an indefinite period.

The employees dispersed peacefully after the health department officials invited them for negotiations on their demands.
