LAHORE: Mahboob Park Gymkhana won the opening match of inaugural Amir Hayat Rokhri Memorial One-day Tournament as they beat Nayer Soch Club by two wickets at LCCA Ground here on Thursday.

Chasing 234 for victory, Mahboob Park Gymkhana reached the target for the loss of eight wickets in 39.1 overs. Waqas Saleem (50), Sufiyan Ali (46 not out) and Irfan Abid (42) were the main scorers for the winners.

Earlier, Nayer Club posted 233 all out in 39.1 overs with Zafar Hayee Butt (80), Salman Ali (55) and Mushtaq Ahmed (54) sharing the scoring honours. Mohammad Rashid claimed 3-30.

Zafar Hayee Butt and Sufiyan Ali were named the men of the match.

President of the Lahore Region Cricket Association Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion.
