KARACHI, Aug 2: Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) is planning to revive National Junior Snooker Championship to unearth new talent, President PBSA Ali Asghar Valika said on Saturday.

“Junior level competition is crucial for the development of sport and main nursery from players can be spotted and groomed” said PBSA chief.

He said details are being worked on the format but added that around 32 cuemen from across the country will be featuring in the competition for venue and dates will be finalized later.

Besides organizing the championship, PBSA executive committee will decide about sending one or two players in future World Junior Snooker Championship.

Atiq Latif Bakhsh and Shameel Shah represented Pakistan in the last world junior championship held in Banglore (India) five year ago.

He said in the past national junior championship was organized twice and it gave the country players like Farhan Mirza and Atiq Latif Bakhsh and revealed that eight players from each of four provinces would be invited.—APP
