GUJRAT: Six days into her marriage, a woman was killed allegedly for honour by her husband in Bhagowal village on Thursday.

Tanda police said Sameera Nawaz, 29, of Bhagowal had married her first cousin Asad of Sargodha on May 5. Soon after the marriage, Asad scrolled her mobile phone and “learnt that she was having an affair with someone else." He shot Smeera dead at her parents home and fled.

Police shifted the body to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

In another murder case, a man was gunned down while another got injured in an ambush by rival party over old enmity in Ghuman Sultan village of Dinga police, Kharian tehsil, on Thursday.

Reports said Liaqat Ali and Ijaz Ahmed were on their way to attend a court hearing in connection with a murder case registered against them when their vehicle was ambushed by Mirza Ghias group which resulted in the instant death of Liaqat Ali of Sivia village and seriously injured Ijaz.

The assailants managed to flee the scene whereas the dead body and the injured were shifted to the Kharian civil hospital where doctors conducted the autopsy.

Police have registered a case against seven nominated accused, including Mirza Ghias and his three sons and three unidentified people on the report of Falak Sher, the first cousin of injured Ijaz Ahmed.

Police said earlier a kin of accused Mirza Ghiaz was killed and a case was registered against the deceased party.
