KARACHI, Aug 2: The visiting Indian fishermen, on Saturday met Sindh Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Manzoor Ali Panhwar.
The delegation leader Velji Bhai told the minister that they were working to promote goodwill between the two countries.
Mr Velji recalled that few months back when there was no contact between India and Pakistan, the fishermen had provided the link.
Mr Velji said the fishermen from both sides enter each other’s jurisdiction unintentionally, and only because of miscalculations. He claimed that no fishermen had been found involved in smuggling or any other illegal activity during the last 50 years, but still they were arrested and had to face internment, which also caused economic hardships for their families.
The delegation requested the minister to help the fishermen and asked him to take up the issue at the highest level.
Mr Panhwar assured that the interned Indian fishermen would be extended all facilities till their release and departure.—APP
