LAKKI MARWAT: The district health department has claimed to have provided lifesaving drugs to the health facilities located in the far-flung rural localities of Lakki Marat.

A relevant official told Dawn on Wednesday that the residents of distant rural areas earlier visited hospitals in urban areas due to shortage of medicines and treatment facilities at local health centres.

He said the government spent a huge chunk of funds on the availability of medicines in health units and rural health facilities.

The official said the basic health units in Ghaznikhel, Tajazai, Abdulkhel, Langer Khan Hathi Khan, Kaichi Kamar, Shah Tora Takhtikhel, Nar Muzaffar, Kot Kashmir, Mammakhel, Behramkhel and Khankhel Mandozai areas had sufficient drug supply.

He also said the rural health centres of Ahmadkhel and Gambila and civil dispensaries of Kotka Ayaz, Chuharkhel, Tor Lawangkhel and Dallokhel had a huge stock of lifesaving drugs.

The official said Naurang Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and Government City Hospital Lakki had been given X-ray films and laboratory kits along with medicines.

“The availability of medicines has helped improve patient care at government hospitals,” he said.

TWO SURRENDER: Two proclaimed offenders surrendered and four others were held during the police’s raids in different localities of Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday.

A police official said proclaimed offenders Barkatullah and Inamullah surrendered in Lakki police station, while wanted men Sabir, Islam Badshah, Furqan and Tahir were held in Dadiwala, Ghaznikhel, Tajori and Pezu areas.
