MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 1: Veteran Kashmiri leader and former AJK President Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan was laid to rest at Rawalakot here on Friday.
His Namaz-i-Janaza was offered at the Sabir Shaheed Stadium, Rawalakot, where thousands of people across the AJK and Pakistan attended the funeral.
Sardar Ibrahim, a legendary Kashmiri leader, was the founding president of the first AJK government established on October 24, 1947, after the liberation of this part of the state from Dogra and Indian occupation troops by Kashmiri Mujahideen.
A contingent of the AJK police presented the guard of honour on this occasion.
The AJK government had declared two holidays (Thursday-Friday) to mourn the Kashmiri leader’s death.
The funeral was attended besides others by dignitaries and high-ups of AJK government, AJK President Major-Gen(retd) Sardar Muhammad Anwar Khan, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee Gen Muhammad Aziz Khan, Opposition leader in the AJK Legislative Assembly Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhary, Speaker AJK Assembly Sardar Siab Khalid, President All-Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, PPP leader Jehangir Badr, AJK ministers, MLAs and AJK Chief Secretary.
