PESHAWAR: PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam claimed on Sunday that people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rejected Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan’s slogan of ‘change’ which can be judged from the fact that his party’s minister was pelted with stones in Abbottabad the other day.

Speaking at a workers’ meeting at the residence of provincial secretary information Nasir Musazai here, Mr Muqam said that masses did not believe in cosmetic changes and wanted practical steps for solution of their problems.

He said that Mr Khan failed to continue fooling the people on basis of hollow slogans and now everyone wanted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to lead the nation in all the provinces and centre so as to solve their longstanding problems.

He claimed that the provincial government wasted four years and now when its tenure was about to end it had started distributing Sehat Insaf cards and launching a metro bus plan.

Muqam says people want solution of their problems

The health card scheme, he claimed, was a source of corruption. He alleged that the medicines meant for poor masses were being misappropriated. He said that the PTI leadership was misguiding people by telling lies without any care that they would answer for the same on the Day of Judgment.

The PML-N leader alleged that the health cards had been distributed among the people to accumulate money through unfair means. He added that he was ready to provide proofs about the corrupt practices in this regard.

Referring to health reforms in the province, he said that the PTI chairman had given all powers to one of his cousins and he was running the affairs from the United States. He said that those living in Punjab should come to KP to see the real face of PTI.

Mr Muqam rejected the provincial government’s claim that he had forced teachers to shut schools for his public meeting in Shangla on Saturday, saying that the event was held at 4:00pm after the school time.

He said that instead of holding public meetings in Punjab, the PTI chief should focus on the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa otherwise the people would repeat what they did with his party’s minister in Abbottabad.

He said that Mr Khan had earlier rejected the metro bus project of the Punjab government and now his own government was planning to launch one in Peshawar.

PML-N leaders, including Sifatullah Khan, Rashid Mehmood, Amanullah Khan, Arshad Qureshi and Khizar Hayat, also spoke on the occasion. They said that a public meeting would be held on May 12 in Peshawar.
