TIMERGARA: Seven people were killed while eight others injured when a van plunged into a dry stream in Awishah area of Asbanr here on Saturday, police and hospital sources told Dawn.

They said the passenger van was coming from Shor Shing to Asbanr Bazaar.

The van fell into a deep dry nullah after the driver lost control over the vehicle when it reached Awishah, killing seven persons on the spot and injuring eight others.

The victims were named Imran, Usman, Bakht Mohammad and Hazrat Usman of Sakhaon village, Rahim Dad and Suleman of Shor Shing and Nowsher of Manrai.

The injured were identified as Zaimur, Ajmal, Sher Baz, Shah Zeb, Haidar Khan, Suleman, Anwar Parasta and Bilal. The dead and the injured were taken to the THQ hospital, Chakdara, and DHQ Batkhela, from where some of the critically injured were referred to Peshawar.

Assistant Commissioner, Adenzai, Shah Jamil Khan and medical superintendent of THQ hospital Dr Basir Khan dispatched the dead bodies to their villages for burial.

The driver escaped from the scene in injured condition. The Asbanr police registered a case and started investigations.
