Provincial speakers moot soon

ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has said a conference of speakers of the provincial assemblies will be called soon to discuss legislative and other relevant issues.

The NA speaker was talking to Balochistan Assembly Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar who called on him at the Parliament House on Friday. The Balochistan Assembly speaker was leading a four- member delegation.

Mr Hussain said Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro would also be invited to attend the speaker’s conference. The proposed conference will be made a regular feature and be held in all the provincial headquarters, he added.

The conference would discuss ways and means to enhance interaction between members of all legislative assemblies to benefit from each other’s experience.

The speakers observed that the young parliamentarians were an healthy and refreshing addition to the national politics, which according to them would bring positive changes in the society.

The NA speaker expressed his sympathies with the people of Balochistan for the loss of life and property owing to terrorist incident in Quetta and heavy rains.

SENATE CHAIRMAN: The Balochistan speaker also called on the Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro and discussed with him matters of mutual interest during an hour-long meeting.

Mr Soomro observed that the interaction between the elected representatives would help promote mutual understanding and harmony among the people of all the federating units and pave the way for the amicable resolution of inter-provincial disputes.
