KARACHI, Aug 1: A young girl committed suicide in Orangi Town on Friday.

Police said that Shagufta Shaheen, 15, consumed some poisonous substance in her house in sector-11, 1/2.

The police said victim’s father had gone to offer Friday prayers, when she consumed poison.

She was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but was referred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police could not immediately ascertain the cause behind the suicide.

The girl was a student of ninth class, the police added.

CRUSHED: An unidentified young man was crushed beneath a locomotive near Karsaz on Friday.

The police said that the victim was crossing the railway tracks near the Jumma Shah Baba Mazar, located opposite the Karsaz Road when he got crushed. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

DROWNS: An unidentified man fell into an open storm water drain in Qasba Mor on Friday.

Following the incident, a rescue team of fire brigade department rushed to the spot and started the search for the victim.
