Veteran Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna passes away at 70

The actor was reportedly battling cancer
Updated 27 Apr, 2017

Vinod Khanna passed away after a long battle against cancer, reports Hindustan Times.

The actor was admitted to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones in his last days.

Khanna is known as the original heartthrob of Bollywood. From his debut in 1968 with Mann Ka Meet, he went on to become one of the biggest stars in the industry, working in productions like Amar Akbar Anthogy, Insaaf and Qurbani.

Khanna has won two Lifetime Achievement awards, one from Filmfare and the other from Zee, but that didn't mean the end of his acting career. While the actor decided to pursue politics, becoming a minister of state in the Ministry of External Affairs, he continued to work in films like Dabangg and Dilwale.

Celebrities and admirers took to Twitter to pay their respects.

@HARJEET Peshawar is at least 5th BCE old, was part of Persia for thousands of years during ancient times and just for a little time during its extensive history was also part of Punjab under Ranjit singh but was separated from Punjab Province in 1901 when it came under NWFP as its capital Vinod Khanna was born in 1946. It is an integral part of Pakistan during our times and before that it was of United India but even before that for most of its history it was under different empires which along with half of current day India/China/Persia/Kazakistan etc were known but with different names as India-Pakistan names were unknown to any one in the world for many centuries
