A Dubai court on Monday convicted three Pakistani men of raping a roommate and sentenced them to three years in jail, reported UAE's The National.

The convicts attacked their roommate on January 17, 2016. The victim was asleep in their labour accommodation in Dubai's Jebel Ali port.

The workers, aged 19, 21 and 30, were drunk when they committed the crime. They woke the victim up and overpowered him as he tried to resist and raped him, added the Emirati publication.

"When we got to the victim’s room, he was terrified, shivering and unable to sit. He was rushed to the hospital," an Emirati policeman said, adding that the victim later told him he had been gagged and restrained while the men raped him.

"He said he cried and begged that they leave him alone but they wouldn't," the policeman further said.

During investigation, the three men admitted to the charges laid against them. They also pleaded guilty at the Dubai Criminal Court in their first hearing in May 2016.

Forensic evidence had also confirmed the incident. The three convicts will be deported after serving their sentence.
