FAISALABAD: A mob torched a sizing factory in Sidhar on Friday hours after a worker was electrocuted.

Yousuf, 35, of Thekriwala, while working at a sizing factory near 68-Mor, Sidhar on Jhang Road, suffered an electric shock on Thursday night and passed away. The factory owner reportedly informed the family in the morning which infuriated them.

Family members and other people of the area attacked the factory and set its merchandise ablaze. They also staged a protest demonstration by placing the body on the road and chanted slogans against the factory owner and demanded action.

On being informed about the incident, a Rescue 1122 team rushed to the spot but the infuriated people did not allow them to start work. Local police intervened, held talks with the protesters and convinced them to allow the rescue work. Following police assurance that action would be taken against the factory owner, the agitators allowed rescue work.
