DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified assailants shot dead two police constables in the main city area here on Thursday.

Police believed that the incident was a case of targeted killing. They said that the attack took place at Maulvi Abdul Haq Street in Rahim Bazaar and the deceased were identified as constables Waqas and Kamran.

The officials said that both the constables were on a motorcycle when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them. They said that both died on the spot. They said that the police recovered several empty cartridges of 9MM pistol from the place of occurrence. The assailants escaped on their motorcycle.

The bodies were taken to the police lines where funeral prayer was held. The police cordoned off the area after the incident, but no arrest could be made.
