NEW DELHI: The Border Security Force has dismissed the soldier who had complained about the sub-standard food being served to the security forces personnel.

Officials said Tej Bahadur Yadav was sacked by BSF on the basis of a report of a staff court of inquiry.

The inquiry, they said, found the constable-rank jawan guilty of making false charges.

“The action of dismissal of the jawan has been taken under the Border Security Force Act that is applicable to all the personnel serving in the paramilitary force,” a senior officer said.

“Yadav has been found guilty on certain charges of indiscipline including uploading the said video in violation of laid down procedures and rules. He has an option to appeal against the verdict within three months time,” he added.

Yadav had created a storm earlier this year by posting videos on social media showing that jawans posted on the border were being served low quality food, which BSF had denied.

Following the video which went viral on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office had sought a detailed report on it from the federal home ministry and BSF.

As per the BSF Act and Rules, he can now submit a petition/appeal against the punishment to the higher within three months.

Those who short circuit established grievance redressal mechanism require some lessons.

Of course he is proved wrong for being an ordinary soldier. What he uploaded on youtube was shocking and glaring proof for any one to see and decide. It is too little too late and does not matter what board of inquiry decides. The truth was out then about the dismal condition of BSF.

It is unfortunate. but it is true that there are corruption in India in every department little or more. We know that procedure is wrong of Yadav but there should be a transparency. A little officer enjoy on the money which they get in form of defense budget and common soldiers are not getting the food as good as it should be. Report of CAG reveal the truth

What about the other side of case Any commission on food audit or inspection if in reality food given is not up-to standards prescribed ? I agree to the verdict but still does that imply that food given was eatable ?

Shivam Apr 20, 2017 02:57pm

True signs of fascism, under the guise of fake democracy.

When one ventures into what this soldier did in uniform ,one should be ready to face the music. No forces in world allows grivences to be aired in public by men in uniform.

Angry Man Apr 20, 2017 03:38pm

Rightful action. There could have been only this action and nothing else against this errant personnel. There is a robust mechanism in the forces for addressing all grievances, but some people like him would always try to exploit rules for their personal benefit and then play the victim card.

Why you've more than one million troops if you can't even provide them proper foods

Ask King Apr 20, 2017 08:28pm

I had lunch at airmans mess recently and food was awesome. But never the less thanks for running this story here. Anything which might bring attention to the conditions will only show improvement.

AM Apr 20, 2017 09:10pm

He got his verdict. But now it is time to enquire about the food too. There should not be, in any case, an iron wall on the fore front of truth, however uncomfortable it may be. One more thing, there should not be any silent work and motive to make us non- vegetarian. A large section of Hindus in India use to consume non-veg every day. Please do no force them to embrace pure vegetarianism of North and central India.

@G.UPADHYAY Well this lesson might teach India a lesson in the future through low morale and mass defections!

ajay Apr 21, 2017 04:26am

he must have to follow proper channel to complain.

Tristar Apr 21, 2017 06:07am

The writing was on the wall..we do not know the real motive of he posting the video and that could have been exaggerated. Army people nevertheless are expected to withstand tough conditions..suppose he was on captivity could he complain?

Ali Shah Apr 21, 2017 12:23pm

Poor soldier. Pray for his job recovery.
