A day after United States (US) National Security Adviser Gen H.R. McMaster urged Pakistan to indiscriminately fight all terror groups, the army's media wing issued a statement on a meeting between McMaster and Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Before his meetings in Pakistan, McMaster had visited Afghanistan, where he hinted at the US taking a tougher line on Islamabad.

In an interview with Afghan news agency TOLO, McMaster said: "As all of us have hoped for many, many years, we have hoped that Pakistani leaders will understand that it is in their interest to go after these [militant] groups less selectively than they have in the past and the best way to pursue their interest in Afghanistan and elsewhere is through diplomacy not through the use of proxies that engage in violence."

Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor on Tuesday tweeted a video of McMaster's subsequent meeting with Gen Bajwa, saying: "Pakistan itself is a victim of state-sponsored terrorism. It strongly rejects allegations of employing proxies from its soil."

The DG ISPR said that during the meeting between Gen Bajwa and NSA McMaster, "It was highlighted that [the] distinguished feature of Pakistan's counter-terrorism effort is focused against terrorists of all hues and colours."

Maj Gen Ghafoor added that the US NSA had acknowledged the Army's efforts towards elimination of terrorists and their infrastructure and had assured "US support to bring peace and stability in the region and globe."

A day earlier, McMaster had held meetings with top civilian and military officials, during which he was apprised of Pakistan's counter-terrorism efforts and initiatives, which have resulted in a marked improvement in the overall security situation.

Rebuttal to Mr. McMaster was much needed. Its time that US understands that double standards would not work anyomre. I would appreciate if this McMaster tell the same thing to India which has been involved in state sponsored terrorism in Pakistan.

Nirbhay Apr 18, 2017 02:12pm

Eliminate all terrorists from your soil.

Pashtun Apr 18, 2017 02:13pm

USA simply loves chaos!!.. even if we are succeeding, they will one way or the other try to revesre our efforts ...

Achyut bal Apr 18, 2017 02:29pm

Pakistan will take a real step toward reforms when it would reject the foreign aid from US with same vigor. Let the pride also be channeled into "nation first" policy and the betterment of the motherland.

Tarzan Apr 18, 2017 02:34pm

The chief has spoken. Trump put in his place.

Khan-haqiqi Apr 18, 2017 02:54pm

You can't fool the world, banned organizations are roaming free, collecting donations preaching hate and state is silent

Zealot Apr 18, 2017 03:04pm

@Khan-haqiqi WE WILL DO WHATEVER WE WANT TO DO ......GOT IT?

Zealot Apr 18, 2017 03:12pm

Well done sir!!! THIS IS WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM A SALAR OF NATION...

Shuaib Apr 18, 2017 03:25pm

Also Pakistan should show Indian Army's atrocities in Kashmir.

The truth Apr 18, 2017 03:40pm

Pakistans problem is defeating the extremist mindset, as evidenced by mashal khans case, this mindset is conducive to breeding terrorism. On the other hand, India also needs to get rid of all the terrorists on its land, this includes the RSS, and the shiv sena for starters, without that, its just another case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Sohail Gem Wazir Apr 18, 2017 03:58pm

Well said salar e Azeem

Arshad Apr 18, 2017 04:05pm

Pakistan has been an ally of America for a long year. It is a pity that it is being asked to prove its credentials. Pakistan bureaucracy has to prepare a complete narrative of causes of terrorism in this area and Pakistan role as front-line state. This narrative is the need of the hour. No country has sacrificed against terrorism more than Pakistan. This has to be established.

sher Jang Gilgit Apr 18, 2017 04:09pm

In the same fashion USA must dissuade India in its quest to play with the fire. One the one hand if USA allows India to pursue what it want to pursue in contravention of the UN resolutions in connection with finding out a peaceful solution of all longstanding disputes and among them the most important is Kashmir than it should not expect Pakistan to meekly submit the prospects of its sovereignty to a manifest usurper. All provisions of the international law and the undeniable articles of acceptable conventions do not lend credence to the way India is playing right now despite the fact that Pakistan is a nuclear power and it is fact that the top management of the security establishment are not machines staying numb when their country is encircled from all directions for not a single good reason. Using Afghanistan as an adversary on the part of India against us would only back fired and considered a ploy to ruin it instead of helping but let us focus on the issue of Kashmir first.

BAXAR Apr 18, 2017 04:11pm

@Nirbhay "Eliminate all terrorists from your soil." Already caught a big one, wish us good luck with the remaining ones.

Zak Apr 18, 2017 04:15pm

@Nirbhay we have, we captured, tried and sentenced Kubushan jadev.

Azmeen Apr 18, 2017 04:15pm

@Nirbhay

Stop state-sponsored terrorism in any form.

Zak Apr 18, 2017 04:15pm

@Shuaib that would have been high on the agenda.

Zak Apr 18, 2017 04:17pm

The new Admin in US is getting a taste of Pakistan strenght. In the end they all come to Pakistsn seeking help.

timetostopthis Apr 18, 2017 04:18pm

Just get rid of ALL terrorists.

Azmeen Apr 18, 2017 04:21pm

Well said Pak COAS.

Naveed Apr 18, 2017 04:52pm

Honestly the kind and amount of mess that US has created is of real concern. Pakistan is just defending itself.

Samir lone Apr 18, 2017 04:58pm

@sher Jang Gilgit very well said

KB Apr 18, 2017 05:09pm

@sher Jang Gilgit , u know UN resoltuion right, please share conditions

Syed zafar kazmi U.s.a Apr 18, 2017 05:14pm

@Nirbhay I agree with you-we must eliminate terror from our soil indiscriminately, starting with Kulbhashan Jadhev's punishment and all such state sponsored terrorists crossing borders into Pakistan. No mercy towards these state agents of mayhem& murder.

Syed zafar kazmi U.s.a Apr 18, 2017 05:21pm

@Khan-haqiqi "You can't fool the world, banned organizations are roaming free, collecting donations preaching hate and state is silent". While what you have said is truth irrefutable, the Quetta report by Justice Qazi Faez Isa is scathing indictment of those top government functionaries who are patronizing banned and sectarian organizations and merchants of terror and hatred.

ghaznavi Apr 18, 2017 05:26pm

@Nirbhay "Eliminate all terrorists from your soil." ..and eliminate all state sponsored terrorism from your government policies. Stop sending terror masterminds to Pakistan

Zia Apr 18, 2017 05:30pm

No one in Pakistan government has the courage to tell this guy the truth and show the mirror and reality. Instead of defending themselves why not put facts in the front. Pakistan and India will die their own death cutting each other and thats what exporters of arms and hate want. Leave Afghanistan alone and just help them build it not use it against each other. Don't learn from history and soon you will be part of it.

fas Apr 18, 2017 05:38pm

have to stand firm

Syed zafar kazmi U.s.a Apr 18, 2017 05:46pm

@sher Jang Gilgit could not be said better.

AKKS Apr 18, 2017 05:51pm

@Sheraz, nobody believes your words and so nobody will listen to your advice! Simple and straight !

AKKS Apr 18, 2017 05:52pm

@Tarzan, oh , really ?

asgher Apr 18, 2017 06:09pm

McMaster comes with a lady who works with Hussain Haqqani such statements should not come after the meeting. As soon as they play indian baansreee in the meeting our reply should be ready.

enough with american double faces with Pakistan and india. McMaster must realize and raise indian sponsored terrorism in Balochistan and the KalbhushanJadav story.

SAEED MASOOD Apr 18, 2017 06:17pm

Pakistan must at time and again show how powerful we are Militarily and how peace loving we are, having said that the countries like America should give more attention to their neighbors like Mexico and building the wall etc. and leave Asia for the Asians to worry.

Sachin Apr 18, 2017 06:52pm

This COAS is more wise and calm and mature. He knows that US never deliver empty message. There is tons of weight behind few words.

lafanga Apr 18, 2017 08:07pm

@Sachin You sure about that? Trump has already flip flopped on many things with broad daylight U turns.

Sarwar, USA. Apr 18, 2017 08:32pm

@Khan-haqiqi Which banned organizations are roaming freely??? You cannot put people in jail for beard and high shalwar??? Yes mindset need to be changed.

Usman Apr 20, 2017 05:40pm

USA don't want peace in Afghanistan.he is sitting in the war torn country since 9/11 and advising us to stay away from it's own played game. Us trying to make hot-spot in Afghanistan. Pakistan should play it's game by adding Russia in it.i think USA don't want regional integration otherwise their Will be no option for him to stay in this region.
