QUETTA: A series of explosions at an arms depot in Spin Boldak town shook the area across the border in Afghanistan late on Monday night, officials and TV reports said.

The explosions were said to have occurred after suspected militants attacked the facility.

According to reports, flames could be seen from miles and the blasts were so loud that they were even heard in the border town of Chaman.

Talking to Dawn, Akbar Khan, an official in the Spin Boldak administration, said a suicide attack at the depot could not be ruled out.

People living near the depot started leaving the area, they said.
