Unidentified miscreants shot at and injured Greater Iqbal Park Project Director Javaid Hamid on Thursday morning near Lahore's Sheerawala Gate area, police said.

Hamid was heading to his office in his car when two unidentified individuals on a motorbike stopped him near the Gate and opened fire, Superintendent Police (SP) City Division Adil Memon told Dawn.

Police believe that the project director was attacked by a contractor against whom Hamid had filed a First Information Report (FIR), Memon added.

"He filed an FIR against the contractor, so initially it looks like the contractor had him attacked," Memon alleged.

Hamid was transferred to the hospital after the incident, the police said.
