KARACHI, July 29: A prisoner committed suicide in the Central Jail on Tuesday.
Jail police said Shabir, 32, hanged himself in the prison using a rope.
Police said that Shabir was admitted to the jail’s psychiatry ward where he committed suicide in the presence of four or five inmates.
His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem.
Police said the victim was arrested two months back in a dacoity and arms possession case in the Chakiwara area. He had also tried to commit suicide earlier, they claimed.
KILLED: Unknown persons hacked to death a man in Darakshan area on Monday night.
Police said that Nawab, 30, was asleep in his quarters of a bungalow, where he served as a security guard, when unknown persons hacked him to death.
They said the victim hailed from Attock and he seemed to have been killed due to enmity.
Police said the assailants had scaled the wall of the bungalow to kill him.
