KARACHI: Sir Syed University kept their hope alive by beating IBA by nine wickets in a one-sided encounter here at the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ground while Iqra University also triumphed in the Caltex T20 Cricket extravaganza on Friday.

Batting first IBA posted a total of 129-6 with Noman Afreen top-scoring with 41. In reply, Sir Syed University cruised to the target in just 13.1 overs with the help of a superb 96 off 57 balls by Ashir Ahmed.

However, Sir Syed University failed to win their next match as they were beaten by five wickets by Iqra University. Batting first Sir Syed University scored 145-9 with Abdul Moiz and Mohammad Shariq taking three wickets a piece. In reply, Hasnain Rizvi scored 52 to help Iqra reach the victory target for the loss of five wickets.

In another match in Lahore, GC University defeated Helley College by 40 runs in a high-scoring encounter.

At the Aga Khan Gymkhana ground in Karachi, Iqra University beat Hamdard University by 65 runs.

Leading educational institutions from three major cities of Pakistan — Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad — are featuring in the Caltex Cricket extravaganza.

Teams winning city finals will travel to Lahore to play the grand finals between 11th and 12th April 2017.

The Grand Finals will be played between City Winners from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and Grand final will be played on 12th April.
