SARGODHA: PML-N MPA Mehr Ghulam Dastagir Luk was acquitted of rape and investigating officer was sentenced to three years in jail and a fine of Rs20,000.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Abu Bakar announced the verdict here on Thursday.
Iram of Dera Luk lodged a complaint with the Jhal Chakian police in 2012 that Mehr Ghulam Dastagir Luk with the help of his four servants raped her at his outhouse.
The judge after recording evidence observed that the prosecution had failed to prove guilt and awarded three-year sentence with Rs20,000 fine to ASI Aftab Ahmad for submitting false and defective challan in court.
SCHEMES: As many as 1,286 schemes are likely to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs2.25 billion, says a minister.
Federal Minister Sheikh Aftab Ahmad told a meeting in the conference hall of Commissioner Office that 578 schemes would be completed in the district at a cost of Rs1.49 billion, while Rs836 million would be spent on electrification of various areas.
AGREEMENT: Keeping in view the rapidly changing business and economic environment of Pakistan, the University of Sargodha has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda).
The agreement, signed by Vice-Chancellor Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed and Mr Raja Hassnain Javaid, the provincial chief of Smeda, aims to initiate a training programme to boost the entrepreneurial potential of the university students.
