LAHORE: The Saaf Pani Programme is a vital project and there is no room for mistake and delay in the implementation of this programme, warned Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Wednesday during a meeting on the project.

“Water is essential part of our lives and due to inefficiency and nonprofessional attitude of some of the officers this programme has already been delayed. No more slackness will be tolerated in this project,” he said.

The programme will be implemented in 37 tehsils of south Punjab in the first phase and it should be implemented “with speed and top quality.”

A steering committee has been formed to continuously review the progress on the programme. The board of the company has also been made independent so as to take speedy measures for its implementation.

Provincial Minister Syed Haroon Ahmed Sultan Bukhari, chief secretary, P&D chairman, Saaf Pani Company chairman Chaudhry Arif Saeed, secretary housing, Saaf Pani Company CEO and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.
