UNNECESSARY and insensitive use of fireworks at weddings has been causing much nuisance in the city.

Dangerous and annoying, it has become a kind of socially accepted insanity and people have started to enjoy it rather than condemn it.

A wedding is a symbol of culture and cause of celebration but ironically it has become a fashion that weddings are meant to be loud and to contain excessively high noises which disturb the whole neighbourhood.

Of the many problems of the city, noise pollution has become a great discomfort. Using music or loudspeakers at weddings is troublesome, but fireworks can even cause serious damage as they are mostly handled by teenagers.

Students and the elderly are the worst victims of this activity as they have to sleep early and they get disturbed with the irritating noises that fireworks and an echo sound system cause. It’s our social responsibility to keep the city clean in terms of noise pollution as well. It is time the authorities did something to minimise the use of fireworks and heavy noise.
