PESHAWAR: PML-N has threatened to sue Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for what it calls using official helicopter for election campaigns and spending public money on party affairs.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Adviser to Prime Minister Eng Amir Muqam said that PTI chairman Imran Khan was making claims about transparency and accountability but his provincial government had turned the official helicopter into a rickshaw or taxicab.

He was flanked by PML-N provincial general secretary Rahmat Salam Khattak, provincial secretary information Nasir Khan Musazai, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Haji Mohammad Afzal.

Muqam criticises provincial govt for dividing Kohistan district

Mr Muqam said that MPA Gul Sahib Khan of PTI used the helicopter for inaugurations uplift schemes in Karak. The helicopter landed at least at three places like a taxicab, he said.

He said that PTI leader Zar Gul Khan travelled in the helicopter to his village in Torghar and then to Kohistan for running his election campaign during by-polls on PK-62. He said that he was not entitled to avail that costly facility. The helicopter was actually used for personal business, he added.

Mr Muqam said that another minister had flown in the same helicopter to Lakki Marwat for inspection of a school few months ago. He also criticised Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for halting under 19-trials at Abbottabad playground so that his helicopter could land there on March 26. It was humiliating and a violation of human rights, he added.

The PML-N leader said that once Imran Khan used derogatory words about foreign players of Peshawar Zalmi team and then the chief minister disturbed sports trials by landing his helicopter at the playground. He said that there were many other places where the helicopter could land. The step proved that PTI had no regard for players and sports, he added.

Mr Muqam, who is also central senior vice president of PML-N, said that their party was seriously pondering over a proposal to sue the provincial government so that it could justify its deeds in National Accountability Court and Supreme Court as well.

He also criticised provincial government for division of Kohistan to get votes in the elections. He said whatever the provincial government was doing in Kohistan was pre-poll rigging and violation of rules and it was duty of Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of it.

The leaguer also came hard on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and said that his party MPAs did not accept him as speaker because he was facing corruption charges and was bound to answer the questions he was facing.
