ISLAMABAD: The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) on Tuesday criticised the government for not filling vacancies at the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), saying this has delayed the clearing of issues facing the petroleum sector.

The association’s central committee observed that the overall situation was discouraging, since the post for member gas was still vacant and the post for member oil had not been filled for over a year and a half.

“Many activities in the oil and gas sector have suffered due to the lack of compulsory quorum in Ogra. This was a major hurdle in the decision-making process, hampering foreign investments as well,” Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, APCNGA central chairman, said.

The meeting was called to discuss LNG and CNG prices which await a decision at Ogra.

The operators of CNG pumps said the companies which have established oil storage facilities are not allowed to operate them because Ogra has not given them permission.
