SARGODHA: Nine people, including three women and two children, were killed when a bus hit a rickshaw and a motorcycle on Kallur Kot Road in Bhakkar district, some 200 km from here, on Sunday.

The bus was on its way to Attock from Multan. It rammed into the three-wheeler near Angra village, Punjgirain town, in a bid to avoid the motorcycle. However, it ended up knocking down the two bikers.

Five of the seven rickshaw passengers, including three women belonging to Kotla Jam area, were killed on the spot while four of the injured died in a nearby hospital.

An angry mob damaged the bus and tried to torch it but police and rescue workers foiled their attempt. They raised slogans against the Punjab highway patrolling police for their alleged failure to regulate traffic.
