TIMERGARA: A poor labourer, who is the sole bread earner of his family having 10 visually impaired members, has appealed to the government and philanthropists to provide him financial assistance for feeding the special family.

Talking to media persons at his house in Watangi Payeen village here on Friday, Nisar Khan said that 10 members of his family, including his elder brother, three sisters and six children, had been visually impaired by birth. He said that he was the only bread earner of the family, but was now unable to afford even food for them.

Local elders Tilawat Khan and Izzat Khan said that Mr Nisar had been supporting his family for many years now. They appealed to the well-off people to support the special family.

Meanwhile, political activists and transporters continued their protest against the crackdown on reassembled vehicles on Friday and demanded of the district administration to stop it.

QWP lawmaker Bakht Baidar, ANP spokesman Zahid Khan, Lower Dir nazim Mohammad Rasool, MPAs Izazul Mulk and Saeed Gul and traders in their separate media talks said that the operation against cut vehicles was tantamount to economic murder of transporters.

They said that it was the responsibility of the federal government to mainstream all non-custom paid vehicles and auto spare parts business in the tax-free zone of Malakand.

A police source said that cases had been registered against 110 owners of cut vehicles in the district on Friday.
