SAHIWAL: Three terrorism convicts were hanged at a prison here in Farid Town at dawn on Wednesday.

They had been sentenced to death by a military court.

Said Zaman Khan of Swabi district, Mohammad Zeeshan of Abbottabad and Shawalay Khan of South Waziristan were brought to the high-security prison on January 25 after their mercy pleas were rejected by the army chief.

They were accused of attacking the armed forces and members of law enforcement agencies.

Zaman Khan and Shawalay Khan were members of a banned outfit called Harkatul Jihad al-Islam, while Zeeshan belonged to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Prison officials confirmed that the bodies had been handed over to relatives of the deceased later in the day.

Foolproof security arrangements were ensured in and around Farid Town and other public places prior to the execution.

Last month, five convicted terrorists were hanged at the same prison.
