KHAIRPUR July 25: More than 10 villages of Naseer Faqeer Jalalani union council were inundated on Friday by a flood canal which carries rain water through mountainous area of the Nara taluka.
The flood water is heading towards the Naseer Faqeer Jalalani town.
The residents of the flooded villages held a protest demonstration outside the Kotdiji Press Club.
They told journalists that cotton and other crops standing on 1,000 acres of land were destroyed, their goats, buffaloes and other cattle were taken away and hundreds of the people were rendered shelterless by flood water.
Deploring that no government officials had visited the area to offer relief to them, they demanded that an emergency should be declared in the area and they should be paid compensated for their loss.
The affected village included Baladi, Bhatti, Khatao Bhambhro, Qambrani, Bukshan Burdi, Atta Mohammad Bhambhro, Karim Bakhsh Bhambhro, Khaskheli, Gabol and Ratal Shaheed.
The Nara taluka has been receiving rains for the last three days.
CANAL BREACH: The Khuhra Minor developed a 30-foot-wide breach near Suk Wahan village of the Khuhra area on Thursday.
As a result, 10 houses, a school, an Imam Bargah and crops were inundated.
The villagers plugged the breach on Friday.
GASTROENTERITIS: A man, Munawar Soomro, 30, died of gastroenteritis in the Nawaro Sharif village, Sobhodero taluka on Thursday.
The disease has spread in the Sobhodero taluka as more than 30 persons are reported to have been inflicted by it.
ACCIDENT: One person was killed and two others were injured in an accident on the National Highway near the Shah Abdul Latif University here on Wednesday evening.
Ghulam Hussain Buroro was killed and his father, Khadim Hussain, and brother, Azhar Hussain, were injured when a wagon hit their motorcycle,
