LAHORE: Law enforcement agencies have been put on extreme vigilant for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final being held on Sunday.

Army, paramilitary Rangers and Punjab police will take control of the Gaddafi Stadium, adjoining buildings and roads early on Sunday.

Up to10,000 police personnel started manning the the stadium and the surrounding areas late on Saturday as per the security plan.

Check points were established for five-layered security on Ferozepur Road and Main Boulevard of Gulberg leading towards Qaddafi Stadium.

Cricket fans would have to undergo extensive body search at these security check points while walking towards the stadium, an official privy to the information told Dawn.

He said the law enforcement agencies began the last round of massive search and combing operation on the outskirts of the provincial capital ahead of big event.

According to the Saturday night updates, he said, the deployment of law enforcement agencies had been increased around the stadium and other major sensitive points in accordance with the security plan.

Containers have been placed to close Ferozpur Road from Kalma Chowk to the Lahore Canal Intersection. The Rangers have also increased patrol on major roads.

The official said the people coming to the venue would park their vehicles at the five parking lots: Ichhra Flyover, Liberty Market, Centre Point, FC College and Barkat Market.

He said the city traffic officers of Lahore, Gujranwala and Multan would supervise the traffic arrangements for the PSL final.

In addition, he said, eight traffic superintendents of police (SPs), 19 DSPs, 62 inspectors, 131 patrolling officers and 1,600 traffic wardens had been deployed to help the cricket lovers on roads.

District police officers called from other districts have also been directed to arrive at their target places.
