ISLAMABAD: Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday sought a report from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Military Intelligence (MI) on the alleged involvement of a missing man in anti-state activities.

Justice Kayani issued the direction after terming unsatisfactory a report submitted by the Ministry of Defence on the disappearance of Imran Sajjad since April 2016. The court warned of summoning senior officials of both the intelligence agencies in case a detailed report was not submitted by March 13.

Syed Ali Abbas in his petition filed through Hafiz Arfat Ahmad made the Ministry of Interior, the secretary interior, the inspector general of police Islamabad, the defence secretary and the director general Inter-Services Intelligence directorate as respondents.

The counsel told the court that Sajjad left his village in Chakwal for Islamabad on April 19 last year but disappeared along with his driver.

His family contacted the Islamabad police for lodging an FIR but the request was turned down. Later, the family approached the Sargodha police which on April 25, 2016, registered the case against unknown people.

The counsel said now it had been learnt that Sajjad and his driver were in the custody of the intelligence agencies.

He requested the court to direct the agencies to produce Sajjad before the court.
