The upcoming rom-com will be the debut production of DawnFilms, the film division of The Dawn Media Group

It's official, folks: Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui are starring in a film together and we have all the deets!

Their second joint film (after the 2015 hit Ho Mann Jahaan) is Saat Din Mohabbat In, a quirky rom-com directed by Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi of Zinda Bhaag fame. SDMI will be the debut production of The Dawn Media Group's film wing, DawnFilms.

The film, scripted by Fasih Bari Khan, follows a young man on a quest to find his true love in a crowded Karachi neighbourhood. Like all good love stories, he will encounter obstacles, both spiritual and physical, that he must overcome in order to achieve his goals.

“Fast-paced and dynamic, this moving film promises to be both a visual and musical treat for moviegoers, as well as an authentic representation of life in Karachi’s teeming neighbourhoods,” said a spokesperson for DawnFilms.

“The choice of the two stars, Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar, in offbeat roles, along with supporting roles played by theatre and film actors, promises the kind of film that audiences have seldom seen in Pakistan,” continued the spokesperson.

DawnFilms will act as executive producers of this forthcoming venture with Mateela Films (Zinda Bhaag) as the producers.

@Nikama Whether it turns out good, bad or ugly, at least we are making our own movies. Hollywood and Bollywood produce tons of junk for every one good movie. It's a numbers game and you can never win unless you are in the game.

Aren't Pakistani film producers getting the message that Iran wont the best Oscar for foreign film not because of a rom com. Are there no stories that the average Pakistani can relate to ? Where have all the story tellers gone? So far the few earlier romance/comedy/flirtation films have satisfied the appetite now its time to move to films that ordinary people can relate !

@Shazad You want Reema, Resham and Shaan to play the main leads. They are old now and Pakistani Cinema is changing and is changing for good. So embrace the change. People were so negative about Balu Mahi and it turned out to be a great film and a big hit.

@Safina Bakhtiar Moore, Bol and Dukhtar were movies average Pakistanies can relate to, now Shoaib Mansoor is starting a new film with Mahira Khan called 'Varna'. The best thing about the new Pakistani film industry is that there is everything for everyone. On one hand movies like Bol, Dukhtar and Moore are being produced. Than we have rom coms like Balu Mahi and Bachana, action packed movies like Waar and Yalgaar. Iran won an Oscar good for them Pakistans time will come as well. Think Positive. But to be honest Pakistani film Bol is much better if you compare it with the Iranian movie The Sales man.

Congrats and all the best to Mahira Khan and Sheheryar Munawar, a dynamic duo with immense talent and awesome on screen as well as off screen charisma! Please do stay in our beloved Pakistan and don't go to the East for acting roles. If anything, try to get some projects done firstly in Pakistan as both are wisely doing ... then on to Hollywood!

@Safina: You've hit the nail on the head. Most films have stories that ordinary cine goers cannot relate to. Not to mention, in the "new age cinema" there is too much focus on getting the visuals (and/or music) right and not enough time (or money) spent on ensuring that the story is strong or dialogues are crisp. @Alanore: Balu Mahi wasn't a "big hit". Some people liked it but others were really upset about it being a Jab We Met rip off. It hasn't even recovered its cost and is considered a flop film in terms of box office collection.

@Sarah How do you know that? the info I have is the cost was 1.2million and the box office collection for the first week was 2.5million so it makes it a hit. If you saw this movie you will know it was not a Jab We Met rip off. They are two different movies we different story lines. And everyone who saw this movie loved it, they had nothing negative to say unlike some negative people like you who are never happy no matter what.
