Helping farmers

Published February 28, 2017

AGRICULTURES contributes 70pc to the GDP and is considered the backbone of country. It somehow manages to turn the negative balance of payments into positive balance of payments.

Farmers work day and night. In spite of their great efforts, they get, in return, a petty amount of money because the surplus they get is used for paying bills for tubewells. Their all hardwork goes in vain and they are not able to educate their children. They have to go through many hardships and have to work other than farming to fulfil the needs of their families.

In the last three years, they have suffered much owing to the decline in prices of Rabi and Kharif crops. Our neighbour India is providing free electricity to farmers, so why do not we?
