Farooq Zameer

FAMOUS TV actor Farooq Zameer died the other day. Our new generation may not be familiar with this great actor of his time but many of us still remember the glorious days of black and white TV.

I do remember his outstanding performance in Ashfaq Ahmad’s Tota Kahani, Aik Mohabbat Sau Afsaney, Aik Haqeeqat Sau Afsanay and the legendary long plays of Drama ‘83.

His ability to merge with the plot, dialogues and character are etched on my mind. Particularly in ‘Nirdban-i-Irfan’ he acted along with the late Zafar Masood and Uzma Gilani. I’ve never seen such a performance in any TV drama afterwards. He was an actor par excellence. May Allah rest his soul in peace.
