LAHORE: Faisalabad Cup, a class VI handicap race, features the seven-event card during the 26th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

Half-a-dozen thoroughbred colts and fillies are taking part in the seven-horse strong field of sprinters for the race to be contested over 1,100 metres which looks an open affair.

The supporting event has the largest field of 18 runners comprising mostly thoroughbreds to be gone over 1,100 metres.

In all, 88 runners are to take part in races, two to be run over 1,100 metres and five over 1,000 metres.

The races will be held under tight security arrangements in view of the recent wave of terrorists’ cowardly attacks targeting innocent people across the country.

Lahore Race Club (LRC) secretary, Shahzad Akhtar on Saturday watched security guards at work and directed them to be vigilant on Sunday morning.

The first race will be held at 12.00noon.
