Muridke SI killed in encounter

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 2: Muridke City sub-inspector was shot dead while a constable sustained serious bullet injuries on Wednesday night in an encounter near railway station, some 36 km from here.

Kashif Amanullah and a constable on patrol duty had signalled to stop a car without number plate. Instead of halting, the three car riders opened fire on them, killing Amanullah instantly and injuring constable seriously. He was shifted to a Lahore hospital in precarious condition.

A heavy police contingent rushed to the spot and besieged the area, but no arrest could be made till the filing of this report.
