KHAR: Five security personnel were injured in a roadside bomb blast in Bajaur Agency’s Mamond tehsil on Sunday, officials said.

They said the incident occurred at 10am in Damadola locality, some 12 kilometres northwest of Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur Agency.

They said that the explosion took place when the personnel of the bomb disposal unit of the FC were defusing a remote-controlled bomb planted along a road in the area by unknown miscreants.

According to the officials, the blast occurred after the personnel had successfully defused another bomb planted in the same spot.

Soon after the blast, local residents and security personnel reached the site and took the injured persons to the agency headquarters hospital in Khar.

Later, the security forces and the local administration mounted a search for those behind the incident and arrested several suspects.

No one had claimed responsibility for the blast till filling of this report on Sunday evening.
