GWADAR: Iranian border security forces fired a number of mortar shells in the border areas of Parom, Cheedgi and Prah-koh in Panjgur district on Friday.

They also fired five mortar shells in the same region on Thursday morning.

According to security officials, 16 mortar shells were fired from the Iranian side that exploded in places near the border.

Security personnel rushed to the sites and started investigations.

“Despite taking up the issue with the Iranian authorities, there is no respite from rocket and mortar shell firing from their side,” an official said.

The district officials of Panjgur said that continued shelling had caused people to mostly stay indoors.
