KARACHI, Dec 23: The city government has asked town administrations and civic departments to provide details of carpeting, patching and repairing work on roads carried out after monsoon.

It has also directed to officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to under take visits, along with Nazims of respective towns, to different areas to identify leakage in sewerage and water lines for the purpose of plugging work. The leakage, it has observed, was causing damage to roads and streets.

The directives came at a high-level meeting, held here on Tuesday with City Nazim Naimatullah Khan in the chair, which was attended by DCO Mir Hussain Ali, EDOs, TMOs, Town Nazims and officials of civic bodies.

It was decided that every civic department would form its own emergency team to carry out road restoration and leakage plugging work on urgent basis.

The meeting decided that the CDGK, town administrations and civic bodies should put in joint efforts in the construction, development and beautification of the city.

It also decided to shift the underground water lines from the middle of the Hub River Road to one side. The decision was taken in view of the recurring damage caused to the road by the water lines.

The meeting expressed concern over the unauthorized digging by utilities departments which should get permission from the town administration.—PPI
