RAWALPINDI: Coal gas followed by fire in Sadiqabad claimed a man’s life on Wednesday, police said.

The cause of 24-year-old Muhammad Akhtar’s death was suffocation as he sustained only 20pc burn injuries.

The incident came to light when some neighbours noticed smoke coming out from Mohammad Aziz’s house where the victim lived in a servant room. As the fire fighters of Rescue 1122 reached the scene and started extinguishing the fire, they found a man lying inside the room.

They brought the man out but he had died due to suffocation. However, the fire was put off by the fire fighters before it spread to the neighboring houses. The victim’s body was shifted to the Holy Family Hospital for postmortem.
