KARACHI, Dec 22: Two persons were shot dead in Gulzar-i-Hijri on Monday evening.

In other incidents, three persons, including a Muttahida activist and a woman, were shot dead in various city areas.

Police said Jalaluddin, 45, and Saeed Alam, 35, both butchers, were sitting at their shop in Qayoomabad, an Afghan refugees settlement behind Maymar Complex, when unknown persons shot at them and fled.

Police said both the injured died before they could be shifted to the JPMC.

Police suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killings. The bodies were shifted to the JPMC for postmortem, police added.

An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead by unknown persons in New Karachi Industrial Area on Monday night.

Police said Yasir Siddiqui, 25, was on his motorcycle when unknown persons opened fire on him near the terminus of W-11 minibus in Sector 5-F.

Police said the young man was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the victim was a Muttahida activist in New Karachi. Following the incident, a large number of party activists reached the hospital.

SHOT DEAD: A teenaged boy died while his father received injuries when unknown armed men opened fire on them in Quaidabad late Sunday night.

Police said some unknown armed men entered the house of Mr Saeed in Bilal Colony. As the inmates raised an alarm, the suspects fled from the house.

The inmates, including the father and the son, tried to chase the suspects in the street when they suffered bullet injuries.

Police said the suspects fled following the incident.

The injured father and the son were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where son Mohammad Hasan, 18, was pronounced dead on arrival. His injured father, Mohammad Saeed, was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Police said the incident might have occurred due to some personal enmity.

KILLED: Body of an unknown woman was found in Gizri on Monday evening.

Clifton police said the body of a woman, with stabbed wounds in her chest, was found in the football ground in Gizri.

The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

Police failed to provide further details about the woman.

DROWNS: A five-year boy died after falling in a nullah in Rizvia police limits on Monday.

Police said Sahil was plying outside his house in Siraj Colony when he fell in the nullah.

Despite hectic efforts by volunteers to retrieve the body, it could not be recovered till our going to press.

Four divers from Hawksbay rescue centre were also called at the spot, but they also failed to find the body.

INJURED: An alleged carjacker and his victim driver were injured in a shoot-out in Defence Housing Authority on Monday morning.
