FAISALABAD, Jan 2: Foggy conditions, prevailing for the last three days, has paralyzed the business activities in the city.

Cotton yarn market, grain market, green market, karyana market, cloth markets, wholesale market, Cotton Seed Cake Market, Goat Market and others markets of the city wore deserted look on Wednesday due to misty weather.

Majority of the buyers of yarn, cloth and other made-ups, belonging to Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Okara, Sheikhupura and other adjoining towns have postponed their visits to the city markets due to thick fog in the early hours.

Some shopkeepers of said unscheduled and abrupt breakdown of electricity has also contributed to hampering the regular business.

The owners and contractors of most of the small powerlooms units, dying, printing, processing, calendaring, hosiery and garments factories and other textile ancillary units have also out their production due to power breakdowns and continuous recession in the markets which also resulted in suspension of business activities in the city.

Over 35 per cent factories situated in residential-cum-commercial areas like Dogranwan Road, Faizabad, Sammundri Road, Maqbool Road, Sohailabad, Ghulam Muhammadabad, Samanabad and outside municipal limits remained closed for the last one month due to serious recession and suspension of orders from the “big parties”.

The enhancement in the numbers of jobless labourers (daily wage earners) were also observed at busy points of the city due to suspension of business transactions.
