KARACHI: Ibad inspects uplift schemes

KARACHI, Dec 21: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad paid visit to various parts of the city on Saturday night and reviewed progress of the ongoing development schemes, besides, having self-appraisal of other affairs by meeting area people leaving protocol aside.

During the visits, the governor and his wife Mrs Shaheena, were welcomed by male and female councillors as well as residents of various areas. They praised the visit of governor and his wife and appreciated the interest that he was taking in the development projects.

At different places, the governor was briefed about the progress of various projects by DCO Mir Hussain Ali, EDO Works and Services Shoaib Siddiqi, Col Waheed of NLC, Mubin Siddiqi of NHA and other officials.

The governor began his tour from Mauripur road construction site, where the repair work was going on. During inspection of the work at the beginning of Lyari Expressway and Northern Bypass, he had directed the concerned authorities to create facilities for commuters at Gulbai and Mauripur road and said that necessary works in this regard be completed by January.

Dr Ibad directed the city government officials to immediately install pumps to control the sewerage flowing underneath so that the road could be constructed according to superior quality.

Later, the governor visited Hino Chowk, Korangi Road project and also reviewed the progress of the work being carried out on FTC and Shahrah-i-Quaideen flyovers.

He drove through Malir and Landhi and went farther to Quaidabad and inquired about the details of the road to be constructed from airport to Ghakkar Phatak.

While visiting various development schemes on his way, the governor went up to Sohrab goth and had an appraisal about the repair work of road on both sides from Sohrab goth to Tin Hatti. He was informed that the work would be completed within five days.

Dr Ibad noted with satisfaction that the work on all schemes was going on day and night. He emphasized on the completion of works in the time frame given by President Musharraf. He caller for gearing up the speed of work without compromising on quality. He also called for lighting arrangements during night and maintenance of alternate roads.

During the visit, the governor took strict notice of wall- chalking and directed the police to check this menace.—APP
