KARACHI, Dec 20: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Saturday announced the names of 58 probables training in Lahore for next year’s SAF Games to be organized in Islamabad.

The Under-23 players have been selected by holding trials in the four provinces by chief selector Col Yunus Changezi who had submitted the list after last phase of trials held on Dec 13.

The selectors Khalid Lateef and Brig Arif Siddiqui did not visit the venue where trials were held, while Abbas Baloch was present during Sindh trials and reached Lahore only on the third day of Punjab trials.

Yunus was unhappy with low turnout of the players in all the provinces, especially Sindh, saying it was because players did not believe they would be paid travel and daily allowances by the federation.

“Players do not have money to make arrangements for their travel and they think PFF will not pay them travel and daily allowances as was done by the previous PFF management.

“I have recommended PFF to make sure each probable is paid his allowance so we can have a bigger pool of players for selection in the future,” he said.

The chief selector said although the players had proper documents for determining age, he felt some eight to 10 probables were likely to be released as they seemed to be over-age.

According to the break-up, 16 players have been selected from Punjab, 10 from Balochistan, six each from Sindh and PTCL, four each from Army and NWFP, three from Khan Research Laboratories, two each from Railways, HBL and Wapda, and one each from PAF, NBP and SSGC.
