QUETTA: The Balochistan government on Thursday started a two-week campaign against sale of spurious drugs in the province.

The decision to hold the campaign was made on Wednesday at a meeting of the Quality Control Authority with Additional Secretary Health Rauf Baloch in the chair.

The meeting was of the view that strict action should be taken against the elements playing with the health of people by distributing or supplying spurious drugs in the province. It was decided that drug inspectors would be appointed all over the province to spearhead the campaign.

Drug inspectors were directed to conduct raids at all pharmacies and medical stores where spurious or substandard drugs were being sold.

The meeting was informed that over 95 cases of fake drugs trade had already been referred to the drug court for prosecution.
