KARACHI, Dec 20: Sindh governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that the charter of Dow Medical University would be approved soon.

He was talking to a delegation of Dow Graduates Association of North America which called upon him at Governor House here on Saturday.

The governor said that the Dow Medical University was being established keeping in view the status and identity of the Dow Medical College.

Along with the DMC, the Sindh Medical College and Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases would operate under its supervision, he said.

He lauded the practical interest of old DMC students in its development and improvement and agreed with the idea of creating a visiting faculty system to take benefit of the old students.

He added that the government would also provide matching funds for development of DMC and Civil Hospital in addition to the funds raised by old students and other philanthropists.

He said a comprehensive plan was being formulated for the development and improvement of the college and the hospital.

Sindh health advisor Nauman Sehgal and MNA Dr. Farooq Sattar were also present on the occasion.—PPI
